2024 Wedding Trends that you can treasure forever

It’s that time of year; a flurry of newly engaged couples, new wedding mood boards, and brides to be who can finally say they get married ‘this year’ or ‘next year’. For many brides, trends provide a source of inspiration and fashion-forward twists to any wedding. However, how can we spot a trend that we love in the moment from the trends that we’ll love forever? It’s important to keep your wedding day - and dress - styling true to you; something that you know you’ll love for years to come, regardless of trends and fashion moments of the time. That being said, here are some of our favourite wedding dress trends that - for us - are here to stay:

  1. Pearls

A long standing favourite at Eden Keshia and symbolic detail to many weddings, the pearl wedding gown trend is sticking around for 2024. Gowns and veils adorned with pearls offer a feminine aura to any bridal look, and offer a contemporary alternative to more traditional bridal embellishments. Brands such as Galia Lahav and Berta have all sported pearls in their recent collections for 2024, and it’s a great trend to incorporate into both minimalistic and extravagant bridal looks.
As a designer who favours a maximalist aesthetic, I regularly incorporate pearls for custom bridal and collection looks. Their natural iridescence and often irregular shape is something that is entirely unique, and is a great addition for brides seeking a more subtle, tonal embellishment without compromising on that extra ‘something’. I also believe they’re incredibly good luck to wear on your wedding day, and adorned my dress with real freshwater pearls. So whether it’s in bridal jewellery or your wedding dress, pearls are one 2024 trend that is sure to never date.

2. Corsets

It’s no secret that corsets are both a historical and contemporary ingredient in dressmaking. Whether it’s historic styles that use artisanal techniques, or the famed Vivienne Westwood corsets that are immediately distinguishable for their iconic silhouette, corsets are a thing of the past, present and future. This year, the underwear-as-outerwear trend has taken on new meaning, with exposed corsets, boning and stitch lines regularly appearing in collections as an intentional feature of wedding gowns. Again, a trend that is much loved and celebrated in our atelier by the team and clients alike, I cannot say I am complaining about this being a popular choice for 2024 and 2025 brides.

3. Personalised Embroidery

Adding another layer to the individuality, bespoke lettering and embroidered dates are a trend that is becoming widely popular with the trends. Whether it’s embroidered lyrics, names, dates, or symbolic illustrations, it’s becoming more popular and increasingly possible to weave sentimental details into your wedding look. Our custom embroidery service allows for illustrations to be crafted by hand and translated into thread into your wedding gown. More info on this service can be found here.

4. Vintage Re-wear

In a world where fashion conscious shoppers are becoming more and more aware of the global impact of fashion, re-wear and vintage wedding gowns are a favoured option for brides seeking sustainable and individual gowns. More importantly, the rise of customisation and re-design of vintage bridal wear is becoming an option for brides to extend the life cycle of a wedding dress, and breathe new life into a once forgotten wedding gown with a trusted fashion designer and tailor. Considering re-imagined vintage wedding gowns that are sustainable and contemporary? Explore our Heirloom collection here. Another bonus of re-wearing vintage? The option to transform a treasured family heirloom into a one-of-a-kind piece that is on-trend, sustainable and maintains the sentimental value of a loved ones’ wedding gown.

5. Sheer wedding gowns

Whether it’s peek-a-boo panels or layered lingerie, sheer looks are a recurring theme in the 2024 and 2025 wedding trend look-book. As a label we work with many elopement brides who love the semi-sheer look, so translucent fabrics and sheer panelling are a firm favourite in the atelier! Sheer lace and ‘barely’ there linings take you from ceremony to reception and beyond and create a fashion forward, luxe aesthetic for brides keen to sport a more daring wedding look.

6. Forever Wardrobes

In the same vein as sustainable and vintage wedding gowns, designers are now catering for brides looking for something that can be worn on the honeymoon, anniversary dinner and beyond. Pieces that are designed for the wedding and long after are becoming a popular addition to wedding wardrobes, with brides keen to shop for pieces that can be re-worn again and again. Whether it’s separates, contemporary accessories, lingerie or layerable jackets and shawls, the ivory and white wardrobe is a popular choice for brides planning elopement weddings or multiple celebrations. Second looks have been popular for some time, but now that there are platforms to hire second looks and accessories, (take a look at P.S Bridal Rental for their selection of hireable looks) brides are able to invest in pieces that are great for a lifetime of re-wear. Some of our clients have their wedding gowns re-imagined after their wedding date for an anniversary celebration or honeymoon mini dress; a beautiful option if you’re a bride that’s passionate about sustainability and the planet.
